Have you ever received a text from someone, mentally responded, then put your phone down and realized – shoot…I didn’t actually respond? That my friends, is how you fall behind on your blog posts and I am so, so, sorry! But let’s keep moving so you all can see what I’ve been up to.

One of the coolest parts about living in the Bay Area is that you can get just about any sort of food, anywhere. For the cities that aren’t as big or immediately recognizable as Oakland, San Francisco, or San Jose, it becomes especially exclusive when you can find a spot that serves great food in an expected area. 3 Pigs BBQ in San Carlos is exactly that. San Carlos is a mid-way point between San Francisco and San Jose, 2 completely different ends of the Bay Area, so I was intrigued to see what this had to offer.

Like many of my weekend eats, I came across 3 Pigs through a simple Yelp search of what was in the area. Little did I know, this was going to be a go-to place for bbq that really hits the spot. The dining ambience is very casual – you order up at a front counter, the staff brings the food to you, and you bus your own table. I was impressed with the selection of draft and bottled beers/ciders and in this next picture below, you can see a creative display of leftover beer cans as wall decor.

When eating “American” bbq, there’s 3 primary things I pay attention to: taste (does it have a good flavor?), texture (is it tender, tough, chewy?), and most importantly THE SAUCE (how many different varieties are available? is it thick or runny?). Then of course you have to taste some of the side dishes and evaluate this all in comparison to price.

But who am I kidding, IT WAS ALL DELICIOUS and very well-priced in my opinion!! My bf and I ordered a few smoked-meat sandwiches, slathered on the bbq sauce (made in-house), sided with some savory potato salad and light/crispy coleslaw, and even ordered their gourmet mac and cheese topped with pulled pork.  It was…excessive and I do not regret one bit, although I can’t say that my arteries agree.
